Just a Swingin'
Did you know that swinging is good for your center of balance? Swinging stimulates the vestibular system, which controls the center of balance in the body. When a child swings, rocks, etc., the inner has to compensate for the motion, and this helps him strengthen his center of balance. Ultimately, the improves balance when walking, running, skipping, and jumping. Take some time to swing - whether in a hammock, a towel or blanket like in this video of hammocking in an Our Time class, or at the playground. It is not just fun, but soothing to children and babies. Get swinging!

Soddy Daisy High School Band - opener 2009
Good morning friends! When you start your child in Kindermusik, a love of making music begins at a young age. There is a good chance that this will lead to performing in their high school (and beyond) marching band or orchestra. Research has shown that students who participate in music performance groups are the top students in the school, the most disciplined, and best behaved. Let's here it for the band! By the way, my daughter is in the colorguard spinning a flag in this clip. She also plays oboe in concert band, and is a Kindermusik veteran!

A New Semester
Good morning to all my new and returning students! It's time to get a new semester of Kindermusik off the ground, and I am so excited! I am making a new semester resolution to blog at least once a week, adding new photos, and when my new Flip camcorder arrives, videos from class and my family too. I want my new families to know that I am active on Facebook, and in additon to my personal profile - Anne Moore Hendrix, I have a business page and a group, both entitled "Kindermusik with Anne Hendrix". I will probably change the name of one of those soon to distinguish them from each other. Look for additons to this blog and my Facebook sites weekly. Here's to a musical Fall semester!
